Role Summary:
As a Night Residential Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in delivering services to young people in residential settings. Your responsibilities span a range of functions, from residential care to emergency admissions, outreach, respite, throughcare, and aftercare. You’ll also provide support to young people with disabilities. Ensuring the safety and continuity of services, even outside the residential setting, is your primary objective. This role fosters a nurturing environment, prioritising the holistic needs of young people, including physical, emotional, psychological, cultural, and educational aspects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality services for young people and families.
- Act promptly and effectively in the absence of Team Leaders/Assistant Team Leaders to ensure the immediate care and safety of young people.
- Manage needs, assess and mitigate risks, and implement risk management plans in line with statutory duties and council policies.
- Serve as a key worker when required, completing tasks assigned via the child plan and considering young people’s views.
- Ensure adherence to unit procedures, including administration, business processes, health and safety, and petty cash handling.
- Contribute to comprehensive assessments, individual care planning, and attend relevant meetings.
- Uphold child protection guidelines and promote young people’s wellbeing and safety.
- Support young people in their use of social media and stay informed about IT trends and issues.
- Collaborate with young people, families, lead professionals, and relevant community professionals.
- Participate in routine domestic and maintenance activities to maintain a nurturing environment.
- Assist young people in attending educational and work facilities.
- Advocate for young people and facilitate their access to independent advocacy services.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and guidance.
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by Team Leaders/Assistant Team Leaders for the safety and wellbeing of young people and staff.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or the commitment to register within 3 months of appointment and achieve within 18 months. Commitment to continuing professional development.
- Experience: Prior experience working with children and young people, building trust and relationships. Proficiency in IT and record-keeping. Experience in residential settings and inter-agency collaboration.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with residential children’s home policies, child protection, care and placement planning, and young people’s needs.
- Skills: Effective stress management and emotional resilience. Proficient in administrative tasks related to children’s home management. Problem-solving skills and collaborative ability.

Driving License and Access to a Vehicle:

Fluent English Speaker:
- Proficiency in the English language is crucial for effective communication with young people, colleagues, and professionals. Candidates should be able to speak, read, and write in English fluently.
