Amy-Blight-headshot-1024-x-683-px

Amy Blight joined our Worcester team this year, to support with worker resourcing and compliance. We caught up with her to see how her first month in the job has been.

Hi Amy! It’s great to have you on the team here in Worcester. How have your first few weeks been?

Hi! Thank you so much, I am so happy to be part of the team in Worcester. My first few weeks have flown by! I am loving the new challenges this job brings me and everyone has made me feel so welcome.

What have you been up to?

I’ve been busy recruiting more staff in Worcester and the surrounding areas, completing onboarding for them, and visiting some of our lovely clients with Kane. We are excited to get more care staff on board and expand the Safehands name across Worcestershire. The last couple of weeks have been very busy with interviews and face-to-face training for new workers and ensuring our current workers’ training is always up to date. I have also been to the Hereford branch and spent the day with the lovely ladies there getting to know more of the Safehands team. Sam Wright our Compliance Manager has also been into the Worcester office a number of times to help support me whilst I am adjusting to my new role.

Sounds great! So tell us, what is your background?

Before I started with Safehands I was a paraplanner. I would help mortgage brokers and financial planners with their mortgage and life insurance administration, make sure their files were compliant and help with applications for their clients. The compliance side of that job helped me to understand what needs to be in place for our current staff at Safehands before they go out to work. Before this, I worked for the NHS helping with their international healthcare recruitment.

Tell us about the team in Worcester.

Sarah Felton is our Branch Manager and she has nearly 20 years of social care recruitment experience! She specialises in both temporary and permanent agency staff recruitment within a variety of care settings.

Kane has over 6 years of experience in recruitment and is a specialist in multiple sectors including healthcare and construction. He joined Safehands in 2021 and is passionate about delivering a really amazing service to our workers and clients. He recently won a company award for demonstrating our core values in everything he does.  He also won Apprentice of the Year in 2013!

What locations do you support?

We cover the whole of Worcestershire, including Evesham and Pershore, plus the West Midlands, including Dudley, Stourbridge and Bidford on Avon in Warwickshire too.

At the moment we are specifically looking for Support Workers in the Evesham area and Teaching Assistants and Nursery Nurses across Worcestershire.

What are the plans for the Worcester branch in the coming months?

We are excited about supporting these new locations and some really lovely clients in these areas! Our team is growing so I’ll be carrying out compliance checks alongside onboarding, plus booking training so staff can fully support our diverse range of clients. Many of our workers are drivers so they can reach our more rural clients easily to cover shifts around the clock.

We provide staff across many sectors in care, including Nursing, Mental Health and Support Work and are currently expanding in the education and early years divisions. It’s exciting to be able to say yes to so many areas now thanks to our amazing team!

What can people expect from Worcester?

An efficient, friendly, hardworking team who strive to provide the best quality of service to our clients and support staff. An excellent awareness of each individual setting and the type of staff they need, help with rota planning and last minute emergency shift cover on average within 15 minutes, 24/7.

What would you say are the top 5 benefits of the Worcester branch?

  • 24 hour service run by our dedicated team
  • Temporary workers who are highly experienced and local
  • Top quality training to our workers using our own in house trainer Gary
  • The ability to supply to rural clients with temporary workers who are drivers
  • A first free shadow shift, or ‘golden ticket’ for new clients to showcase our amazing workers
